An industrial company handling high daily logistics volumes received trucks loaded with multiple reusable pallets and packaging units.The core issue was lack of traceability: 

  • Movements were not properly registered in SAP.
  • Operators avoided manual transaction entries.

Solution

A system based on unique identifiers and QR codes was designed and implemented.

Each reusable pallet received:

  • Unique ID.
  • QR label.
  • Individual system registration.

Operational flow:

  1. Truck arrives.
  2. QR codes are scanned rapidly during unloading.
  3. Reception is automatically recorded.
  4. Location is updated in real time.

Additional lightweight SAP Fiori applications were developed to manage:

  • Inter-warehouse transfers.
  • Repair dispatch.
  • Unit blocking.
  • Status and location queries.

All using the same QR-based reading system.The key was eliminating user friction and simplifying the process.
